How to play the daily challenge

1. Open Word King and choose the Daily challenge. You can play free in your browser without installing an app.
2. Start when you are ready. The regular Daily gives you nine letters and thirty seconds.
3. Build a word by selecting its letters, then press Submit. A letter can appear only as many times as it appears in the rack.
4. Look for a longer word while time remains. Submitting an early word gives you a result to improve.
5. After the challenge, review your result and compare word lengths. Return the next day for a new rack.

There is more than one possible answer

Daily is a word-building challenge, not a puzzle with one secret word to guess. The same rack can form many valid words. The goal is to find the longest one you can before time runs out.

Equal-length words are a tie, even when their spellings differ. A longer word outranks a shorter word. The game checks whether a word is accepted and whether the rack contains its letters.

When does the daily word game reset?

The daily date changes at midnight in America/Los_Angeles, the Pacific time zone. The local time of the reset can differ from midnight where you live, and daylight saving time can change the offset.

Everyone playing the regular Daily for the same game date gets the same rack. Check the in-game countdown for the next challenge.

Daily, elimination and Junior

Daily is played solo, so you can focus on your rack without waiting for a match. Elimination gives you successive rounds against opponents, with the shortest words removed after each round.

Junior Daily has its own seven-letter rack and sixty-second timer. Its history and progress are separate from the regular Daily. The longer timer gives you more time to find and submit a word.

A useful habit before you start

Begin when you can give the timer your attention. Find a familiar short word first, submit it, then inspect the unused letters for ways to extend it. Do not wait for a perfect nine-letter answer before submitting anything.
